Video Update #1 - July 5, 2021
Here is an update from us about our ‘Ukulele Retreat! We are super excited that you will be joining us, and the first song we will work on together is “I’ll Remember You” by Kui Lee. Please take some time to familiarize yourself with this beautiful song, if you don’t already know it.
Early bird ends July 26 - originally it ended July 20th, but we extended it due to Ukulele Festival Hawaii.
Update #2 - July 31, 2021
Craig here, for this update! This is our second update for our upcoming program. The first big announcement is our schedule for the 3 days. The order of the workshops aren’t listed yet but the time slots for each event are set. If anything changes, we’ll be sure to update you.
As you can see, we added an extra listening workshop where you’ll have a chance to have the artists explain what they are listening for and how they are applying what we learned on Day 2 while playing with each other.
For those of you who are new to the zoom platform and would like a chance to make sure everything is working well, I’ll be doing a tech check on Sunday the 8th at 7am Hawaii Time. I’ll send out the zoom link as we get closer to that. Even if you’re a zoom pro, you are more than welcome to join us for that test!
In regards to the artist feedback on a performance song, we will have a window of time after the retreat for you to submit a song to us (probably within a few weeks after the retreat so you can practice what we learned!). We will then pick a date in late September/early October to view them all together and give our video feedback!
I know there are a few of you who will not be joining us live but are excited to watch everything after. I think that’s a wonderful option that is really new to us. To ensure everything gets recorded, I will be recording at different levels (I’ll be recording the zoom meetings themselves, and from the cameras as well to get a higher quality recording).

Update #3 - August 5, 2021
We have some music to share with you. The buttons listed under the video (on the left) will open a new tab for the base of our two songs. In order to download the songs to your computer, make sure to left click (on your mouse) to save the files, after they have opened in the new tab. We wanted to make sure you had time to get to know the songs to make your learning even more enjoyable during the retreat itself. We recommend getting to know the chords as well as the melody. There will be some changes to the material during the classes, but this will give you a great base to begin your learning.
Our first song, as we mentioned in the first update, will be “I’ll Remember You”. This is a beautiful song, written by Kui Lee. Our second song will be a Jazz Standard, “Fly Me to the Moon”. Both songs are in the Key of F.
There will be more material coming from us, as we will send you a full digital packet for classes as we get closer to the retreat.
Thank you to those of you who have written us, letting us know you will join us for the tech rehearsal. We are excited to see some of you on Sunday (August 8, 2021) at 7:00AM HST.
Update #4 - August 9, 2021
Aloha Everyone! Our tech check (August 8, 2021) went really well. Thank you to those of you who were able to make it. If any of you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to send us a note.
I will be sending out another e-mail not using our e-mail blasts to remind you to check your spam/junk folder, as we have discovered that our mass e-mails sometimes end up there. When in doubt, please check this page if you are unsure if a new update has happened. The password is listed at the bottom of this e-mail.

There will be more handouts coming, so don’t fret! We have two of them already up on this page (above this post), so you can get a jump start on the base arrangements for our two songs, “I’ll Remember You” and “Fly Me to the Moon”.
QUESTIONS DURING THE EVENT
During the panels and when asking questions, please mention you have a question in the chat and the moderator will let us know and unmute you to ask your question to us!
Don’t be afraid to ask questions! Even if we go long, if people need to sign off, they can always watch the recordings. Some of the greatest moments come from great questions. (The moderator will pass questions if they know the answer will be shared shortly by the teacher)

UPDATE #5 - August 20, 2021
Our FIRST DAY! It was such a blast and we loved getting to know everyone. Thank you all so much for making it such an incredibly special day. We have a few different links for you. Because this day was so unique, having everyone speak and chat with us, we actually are giving you access to both the Zoom meeting recording and the hi-res recordings. The reason being, for the hi-res recordings, it is only of Jake, Herb, Craig and myself (Sarah), so it seems strange watching only us and hearing you (but not seeing you). The Zoom meeting you actually see those that are spotlighted.
Craig is currently uploading the videos as I type, so there is a chance that when you get this e-mail the videos are not completely uploaded yet. Please check back on Saturday, August 21, and everything should be uploaded by then. We wanted to get this information up to you as quickly as possible for those that were unable to join on Friday.

If you do not have access to the videos, please check with us, as that means your e-mail (that is associated with your Youtube Account) may not be connected to the videos. These are private videos, meaning that you must be logged into your Youtube Account to watch them, and we need to have your e-mail address to give you permission to see the videos.
